Amelia's swimming abilities have taken off! She has been taking lessons for almost a month now at the new club we joined near our new house. She signed up for a class of 3 kids, but the other two hardly ever show up, so Amelia's getting essentially private lessons all summer.
What do you think? Think she likes it?
After she launches herslef into the pool, she SWIMS all by herself to the edge of the pool.
Me: Um. There's a pretty big credit on my macy's that's not mine. Macy's girl: Me: Macy's girl: I Me: Macy's girl: You would not believe what we see around here. [30 minutes of attempts to fix it] Macy's girl: Me: um. ok
Amelia's new bed time ritual is to call out with various ailments in an attempt to garner sympathy and get us to sleep in bed with her. Some of them are hilarious. Here are the most recent ones:
- Her throat hurts because she swallowed a tooth.
- Her leg hurts because all the bones are gone.
- She has a "crump" in her toe.
- She has wood chips in her heel.
- Her foot hurts because "it has no power".
Amelia went to a waterslide birthday at a friend's house today. It was 105 degrees, they had a waterside in their backyard and the kids spent the whole time in the pool.
Flanked by her school friends, Lauren and Julia.
The funniest part was the little neighbor girl who spent the majority of the party up on a ladder trying to see into the party. She just sat there wistfully and sadly for almost an hour.
Amelia then stepped on a bee which stung her foot. And we learned she is NOT allergic. (yeay!) But that she handles pain about as well as her mother. After about a 1/2 hour of "OUCHIE OUCHIE OUCHIE" during the party, she found some princess clothes and all was well with the world. Happy Bithday Alex!
So, as we all know, I'm still trying to replace those orange Cole Haan sandals.
Some of you have refered to them as "clunky" "scuffy" and others say "yes, those are so you." I may be clunky, but I'm not scuffy, so I do need to find a new pair.
Today on Endless (dot) com they have a whole section called "Orange you Happy - Add some color to your life" and then has a list of about 100 orange shoes. If I can't find a replacement there, I dont' know where to look.
Wish me luck.

The other night I got home a little late and Amelia was already in bed. Mike said she was still awake and to go in and see her because she wanted to say good night to me.
Amelia: Oh Mommy! You're Home!
Me: Yes I am honey (leans down to cuddle sleepy child, notices pillow is very wet...) Oh honey! Why is your pillow all wet?
Amelia: Oh, that's just where I was crying for you.
They painted my daughter's nails at school. Apparently, it was someone's birthday so they painted all the girls nails and they gave all the boys sticker tattos. I don't know that I'm ok with this. I had to sign a form permitting them to put sunscreen on her at school, but nail polish is apparently fine.
I told my overprotective mother and she's more concerned about the sticker tatoo which she sees as "gateway" ink and tells kids its ok to get tatoos.
I'm weirded out by the painting of 3 year old girls' nails. Thoughts? Discuss.
