After almost 3 months with days over 100 degrees, we finally get to start swim lessons. We were a little delayed this year because of Amelia's broken arm. Broken humerus to be exact. Do not Google that like my mom did and then send me terrible stories about affecting the growth plate and long term damage to Amelia's arm and ability to grow. Yeeshk!
These photos will show you all you need to know:
Clearly she is a trooper.
Because of the Miracle of children's healing powers, her broken arm was in that sling for 3 weeks and ready for action after a month. Doctor said if an adult had this injury it would be a six-month healing process.
Anyway... So, we finally started swim lessons and she LOVES it. She spends the majority of her time under the water with her little swim-mate, but she's already doing some crawl across the pool.
that I never want to forget.
Amelia: Mommy, is that a spider in the corner?
Me: Yes, but it's a Daddy Longlegs.
Amelia: I think it's a Mommy Littlelegs.
Me: Good night Amelia, I love you.
Amelia: I love you too momma, I love you more than Candy.
Me: I love you more than flowers.
Amelia: I love you more than fancy shoes (ahhh... that's my girl)
Me: I love you more than books!
Amelia: I love you more than "night-night" and sucking my thumb!
I couldn't top that - Frankly I always assumed that given the choice between me and her thumb, I'd be sent packing. And I really thought I'd gotten the topper with books. The girl loooooves books. Here's how I found her the other night:
I saw these on a lady at a wine tasting/art event this weekend. I am not a fan of the gladiator sandal generally, but she was making these look so good, my friend and I actually had to approach her and ask her where she got them. Might have been the wine talking, but they are great. She said she also had them in brown. Which I appreciate.
If you are not on your own self-imposed shopping ban, these can be found at Nordstrom. But, of course.
Today my friend emails me some questions about Havaianas because (1) I'm Brazilian and (2) I know shoes. This caused me to peruse the Havaiana website, and while I already own 8 or 9 pair, I did see some I don't know if I can live without. But... shopping ban!
Happy Friday and maybe one of you will pick up a pair because these are too irresistable.
J.Crew told me that this was the kind of jacket everyone needed in their closet.
I got it and decided that I didn't need it as much as they said. It was boxier and less flattering on me in real life.
And in additional NO SHOPPING news, I saw this necklace for only $22 at Overstock.com and am NOT. BUYING. IT. But maybe one of you will and will let me borrow it.
In the last week not only has there been no shopping, but I've actually done a little reverse shopping. These shoes:
I purchased these a couple of months ago, but now they are on sale at Nordstrom, a quick email to their customer service department got the difference automatically credited to me.
Then, I recently purchased this Pottery Barn "Daily System" and then noticed that 3 weeks later, the entire system was on sale an additional 20% off.
Again, went online to the "live chat" feature of Pottery Barn and got almost $100 refunded to me on my order!
A successful reverse-shopping day.
my mom always took (now) embarrassing pictures of me asleep... she'll appreciate it later (= read more
